Dr Alison Elliot
Associate Director, Centre for Theology and Public Issues (CTPI)
Alison Elliot's work straddles the university, civil society and the church. Formerly a lecturer in psychology, she is currently an Honorary Fellow in the School of Divinity of the University of Edinburgh, where she is Associate Director of the Centre for Theology and Public Issues. She has been Convener of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations since 2007. In 2004
she became the first woman to be appointed Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. She has represented her church on many ecumenical and civic bodies. As the church's spokesman on politics and social policy, she took a particular interest in international issues and has been active in the work of the Conference of European Churches.
