Birmingham City Council, Northfield Constituency and partnersThe Judges welcomed the widespread involvement and strategic backing for this project.  They thought it was a brave initiative demonstrating a creative engagement with young people in a difficult area in much need of this type of work.

 

 

 

Hungry Arts Ltd: Gypsy arts festival

Hungry ArtsThe Judges thought this was an excellent and innovative project which demonstrates partnership working and proven success in building bridges between communities. Good impact on the wider community and integrity in approach.  It offered good value for money and could easily be rolled out more widely. 

 

 

London Borough of Southwark: Koruso! The Southwark interfaith community choir

London Borough of SouthwarkThe Judges thought this project showed good evidence of a diverse range of communities bought together through the arts, and tensions reduced due to nature of the interaction.  It seemed an innovative idea by a local authority to use an interfaith choir to build local cohesion through a shared passion for music.

Birmingham museums and art gallery: Guns, gangs and knives

Birmingham museums and art galleryJudges thought this was a powerful and innovative project delivered at really good value for money to young people who may otherwise have got involved in gangs and crime.  Although intercultural dialogue appeared to be a by-product of the project, Judges felt this type of scheme was crucial to tackle this difficult issue.

 

 

Hounslow Council: Second Fusiliers and Hounslow Council junior leadership programme

Hounslow CouncilJudges welcomed the unique nature of this project and thought it had real value in bridging the gap between local army barracks and diverse local communities.  It was viewed as a project that could be rolled out to other areas with barracks.

 

 

Royal Borough of Kingston: Kingston interfaith forum

Royal Borough of KingstonJudges welcomed support locally from across faith groups and the appetite to learn from outside the Borough. It was seen as a real achievement to bring together so many different faiths under one roof and having the support of democratically elected members.  Although many areas have inter-faith forums, the range of participants and activities should be held up as a model to other areas to increase inter peace harmony and neighbourliness amongst its communities
