The Coventry University 2010 Mission Statement identifies as a core organisational objective the driving forward of the Applied Research agenda.  The University classifies Applied Research as activities ranging from traditional research, through to knowledge transfer activities, consultancy and continuing professional development.  

Over the history of the University and its predecessors there has been a common theme of working closely with partner organisations who use knowledge and skills to understand and solve real-life problems in order to deliver economic, commercial, environmental, cultural or social benefits.
